Guitarist I Composer
A self-taught musician started his musical career as a guitarist with the band SHAGIES. The founder and music director of the band served his national service with the SINGAPORE ROYAL NAVY BAND. In 1986 his band SHAGIES won the runner-up of the YAMAHA COMBO TIME. The band has been with the now defunct EUROPA outlets for the past ten an a half years since 1991 till 2002. He and his band has performed in various gigs such as the SENTOSA MUSIC FESTIVAL in 1993 featuring BON JOVI, RICK PRICE, JIMMY BARNES & ANDY LAU. Represented Singapore to perform at Surabaya, Indonesia for Singapore Tourist Promotion Board in 1996. Performed with ANITA SARAWAK in her show "Speak Of The Diva" in 2001. Shagies also did as backing musicians for artiste such as M.NASIR, ISMAIL HARUN, FERHAD and RAHIMAH RAHIM to name a few.
He got his break in music composition when he met a trio rap group KOOSMANGAT and from then onwards he started composing, arranging and producing for artiste in the malay music industry. One of them is a comedy trio group SAH featuring HUSIN SAABAN, SAHFUDDIN MAHFUDZ and ARIF SAMSUDIN, which the song DANGDUT MRT won the COMPASS Top Local Malay Song Award (Composer) in 1998. Another recording was "SUARA HATI" WARNA RIA featuring DJ's from Warna 94.2 and Ria 89.7, RAMLI SARIP and FAUZIAH LATIFF. His animation music started when he composed for a local animation company PEACH BLOSSOM MEDIA. He composed underscore music for TAO SHU "The Warrior Boy" which was aired in NICKELODEON ASIA, ASIA TELEVISION HONG KONG, TPS and ANGAD FILM. The music won him the COMPASS Top Local Soundtrack Award (Composer) in 2012. He also wrote the theme song and the underscore for WILD ANIMAL BABY, a DVD production for the pre-school, nature-learning series from experts-NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION. The DVD is a distinguished iParenting Media Award Winner. One of his works in an animation titled "The Elephant And The Tree" (Japanese Version) won the Best Animation award in the 9th Japan Wildlife Film Festival. He also composed for local TVC such as OCBC, Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park and the Singapore Zoo. Currently he is producing his own instrumental album that fuses the Indonesian Gamelan with music from the rest of the world. It's a five series album entitled "ONE WORLD BOB ASIA SERIES". By day, he is a guitar teacher with the Thunder Rock School.
On his personnel side, he's married to a lovely wife LEE HIANG or better known by friends as 'PRISCILIA' and has two adorable daughters NASRIN and SHIRIN. He loves travelling a lot either to a laid back resorts or the four seasons weathered countries. Of course he also loves watching his favorite football club MANCHESTER UNITED.
